Our mission at The Aussie Seed Shed is to help the Australian community create productive and sustainable gardens in their urban backyards. We want gardening to be achievable and accessible for everyone.
What we do
The Aussie Seed Shed provides the resources, knowledge, and drive you need to grow your own food, increase your self-sufficiency, and develop a healthy backyard ecosystem! Even if you have limited time, space, or budget, you can create a productive and sustainable garden — even in suburban areas. We're here to help you get there.
How we do it
How It Started
The Aussie Seed Shed began when our founders, Katie and Zac, started building a backyard garden.
During our garden build:
We struggled to find reliable information and products relevant to the Australian climates.
We couldn't find a 'one-stop-shop' that supplied the products we needed and broke down information into an accessible language that the average person could understand.
We started The Aussie Seed Shed to fill this gap and to help the others in the Australian community to create sustainable gardens in urban areas.
You can become more self-sufficient
The last few years have shown us how reliant we are on supermassive companies, and how quickly our supply chain can suffer in an emergency. To those of us living in suburbia, it can seem farfetched to become self-reliant.

"One day I'll move onto a large property, grow my own food, and be self-sufficient"
.... thoughts? We have too! But you don't need to move. You don't need to wait. You can create a productive garden with limited time, space, or budget. You can become more self-sufficient. It is easier than you think. If we did it, you can do it too.
During our garden-build, we did a lot of research
There is unlimited information about gardening on the internet. But we struggled to find useful and relevant information. When we did find useful information it seemed to be random... There was no 'one-stop-shop' for the information we needed to know and the resources we needed to buy. When we had a gardening fail, we would fall so far down the rabbit hole trying to fix the problem that it drove us both insane. We just wanted one place to go to find good quality information and resources relevant to gardening in the Australian climate.
We wish when we started our gardening journey, there was an online store where we could learn about how to do something, get inspired, buy the products we needed to do the project, and have the support of the business' customer service team if we needed it.
We found a place like this didn't exist.
