Onion — Amposta Purple seeds
Amposta Purple Onion produces a reddish-purple coloured bulb that is medium is size and midly-sweet in flavour. Amposta Purple Onion requires 12 to 14 hours of consistent sunlight hours per day to form a uniform bulb and regular watering. Harvest Amposta Purple Onion when the green onion tops start to wilt and turn brown. Amposta Purple Onion can be harvested early as 'spring onions' and the green onion tops are also edible. This onion variety performs excellent in pots and containers as small as 3 litres.

Sow seeds direct or raise seedlings in a protected area (in a greenhouse or indoors). Sow seeds approximately 5 to 6mm deep. Keep soil moist. If raising seedlings, transplant out when seedlings are around 6 to 10cm tall. Start seeds in spring to allow sufficient plant grow before bulb formation being when days are longest in summer. Germination occurs within 10 to 14 days, at an ideal temperature of 20 to 25°C. Leave 30cm between transplanted seedlings or sown seeds, and approximately 50cm between rows of Amposta Purple Onion. Amposta Purple Onion reaches full maturity after around 115 days.
