Swiss Chard — Fordhook Giant
Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard, known more commonly as 'Silverbeet', is a green, leafy vegetable that can reach 70cm in height. Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard grows vertical white stalks that house tender green leaves. Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard is faster growing than other similar varieties. This variety of chard is frost tolerant and resistant to bolts. Treat your swiss chard leaves like you would other leafy vegetables, and don't forget the white stalk can be eaten like celery!

Sow seeds direct or raise seedlings in a protected area (in a greenhouse or indoors). Sow seeds approximately 15mm deep, leaving 30cm between seeds or seedlings. Leave 50cm between rows of Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard. Start seeds in spring, autumn, or summer*. Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard can grow under a wide range of conditions, just ensure not to plant in extreme heat or frosts. Germination occurs within 5 to 10 days, at an ideal temperature of 10 to 30°C. Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard reaches full maturity within 50 to 70 days.
